Wedding Invitations
My brother finally married his wonderful girlfriend of seven years this past October. I was honored when they asked me to do the RSVP cards and invitations for the wedding.
Color Theme
My first step was to create a color and type guide to follow through out. The colors were easy to get the thumbs up on from my sister, the type however, took a bit longer. I also created a custom "crest" which would be carried through out the print materials. The goal was to create a set of invitations and RSVP postcards which would age gracefully.
RSVP
I opted to create RSVP postcards as opposed to two documents which would be mailed to invitees. This cut costs and labor - no one had to sit around and stuff envelopes. My sister-in-law had already put up a website for guests to RSVP so this was sort of a novelty for recipients to save and enjoy.
The invitations bear the rose crest and have a very similar aesthetic. The border was printed using a metallic ink giving the invite a little bit of pop. My sister is definitely a girly-girl, so making this as bubbly, happy yet classic was the challenge.

The importance of my role in their wedding was relatively small in terms of designing the look and feel of the whole event, but the invitations seemed to be a hit. A couple of extended family members asked where she got them made. I took this as a huge compliment because no one wants to be the designer who got the job out of pity. I played a much more important role as best man and gave a pretty weird toast. Great day regardless.
